Choosing a fireplace

Choosing a fireplace

How do I choose the right fireplace for my home?
Start with how you want to use it—everyday heat, the look of a real fire, or a quick flame in a room that can't be vented. From there it comes down to your space, your fuel, and your budget. We'll walk you through it in plain language, in the showroom or in your home, and point you to the right fit instead of the priciest one.
What's the difference between a fireplace, an insert, and gas logs?
A fireplace is a complete unit we build into a wall or opening. An insert drops into an existing masonry fireplace to turn it into an efficient, sealed heater. Gas logs sit in your existing firebox to give you a warm fire at the turn of a knob. We carry all three and can tell you which one your situation calls for.
Gas, wood, or electric—which is best?
Each has its place. Gas is the easiest—clean heat at the flip of a switch, and many models keep working in a power outage. Wood gives you the real crackle and the deepest heat, with a little more effort. Electric needs no venting or gas line, so it works anywhere there's an outlet. We'll match the fuel to your home and how you live.
Will a gas fireplace work during a power outage?
Many of the gas fireplaces we carry keep producing heat even when the power's out, which matters on an ice-storm night in January. Not every model does, so tell us it's a priority and we'll point you to one that does.
Do you carry electric fireplaces?
We do. Electric fireplaces are the simplest way to add a flame to a room—no venting, no gas line, just an outlet. Today's models look great and add gentle supplemental heat, and we can recess and finish one so it looks built-in.
Installation

Installation

Do you install the fireplaces you sell?
Yes—and the same factory-trained crew handles your whole job turn-key: gas, venting, electrical, framing, and the stone or tile finish. You deal with one team, not a string of subcontractors, so there's nobody to chase if a question comes up later.
How long does a fireplace installation take?
Once the unit is on site, a straightforward install wraps up quickly—new construction or a full custom surround takes longer. After a free in-home visit, we'll give you a clear timeline before any work starts.
Can you put a fireplace in a wall that doesn't have one?
Absolutely. We frame it, run the gas and venting, and finish it so it looks like it was always there.
Do you offer free in-home estimates?
We do. A free in-home visit is the best way for us to see your space, talk through what fits, and give you an honest recommendation. You can also get a ballpark online with our instant estimate tool first.
Can I get an instant estimate online?
Yes. Our instant estimate tool asks a few quick questions about your space, fuel, and budget, then shows you fireplaces that fit with a ballpark price—all in about a minute.
Service after the sale

Service after the sale

What does service after the sale actually mean?
It means you're not left chasing anyone when something needs attention. Buy your fireplace from us and your service calls are free for a full year after the sale—so if a pilot acts up or a flame looks off, one call handles it. And long after that first year, you've still got people who know your fireplace and stand ready to help.
How much does a service call cost?
If you bought your fireplace from us, your service calls are free for a full year after the sale. After that there's a standard trip fee—just ask when you call and you'll get the current price, since rates change over time.
Do you service fireplaces you didn't sell?
Yes—even if you bought it somewhere else. Our factory-trained techs service gas, wood, and electric fireplaces and inserts across the metro, find the real problem, and fix it right.
My pilot won't stay lit—can you fix it?
That's one of the most common calls we get. It's usually a thermocouple, thermopile, or pilot assembly issue. We'll diagnose it on site and get it lighting reliably again.
I smell gas near my fireplace. What should I do?
If the smell is strong, step outside first and call your gas utility—that's the safe move. For a faint smell near the fireplace, turn the gas off, don't light it, and call us at 913-383-2286. A gas smell is always worth checking right away.
Gas logs & glass doors

Gas logs & glass doors

What are gas logs, and are they worth it?
Gas logs are realistic ceramic logs that sit in your existing firebox and give you a warm, glowing fire at the turn of a knob—no wood, no ash. If you have a fireplace you never light because hauling wood is a hassle, they're one of the easiest, lowest-fuss upgrades there is.
What's the difference between vented and vent-free gas logs?
Vented logs give you the most realistic flame and run with the damper open. Vent-free logs put out more heat and burn very efficiently with the damper closed. We'll explain the trade-off and tell you what fits your fireplace safely.
Do you still do fireplace glass doors?
You can still get them here—other fireplace shops in town send customers our way because glass doors are disappearing everywhere else. If you've struck out elsewhere, you're in the right place for a glass door done with care. They refresh a dated fireplace and keep your heated air from slipping up the chimney.
Grills, smokers & outdoor

Grills, smokers & outdoor

What grill brands do you carry?
We carry Napoleon, Fire Magic, Broil King, Big Green Egg, American Outdoor Grill, and Smokin Brothers—gas, charcoal, and pellet. You can compare them side by side and order through a real person who'll make sure you get the right one.
How do I order a grill from you?
There's no cart or checkout maze. Browse and compare grills, send us your pick with the Order Now button, and we'll confirm the details, the timing, and what fits your space—personally. Some grills are regularly stocked; others are a special order, and we'll tell you which is which.
Do you repair grills?
Yes. We service gas, charcoal, and pellet grills and smokers—burners, igniters, grates, valves, and pellet augers. Often a repair costs a fraction of a new grill. We fix what we sell, season after season.
Can you build a custom outdoor kitchen?
Picture how your family actually cooks out back—then build the space around it: a built-in grill, storage, side burners, even a fire feature. We help you design your outdoor kitchen, supply and install the pieces that last, and service everything in it for years.
